After her last release “Icom”, the name Miss Kittin was well heard in techno. As a genre dominated by boys, this girl is one of the biggest success of some kinda girl power anyway, even my grandma is very proud of her. We were waiting for a new solo album release again and very soon, but first there hit some news about a Bugged Out mix by Miss Kittin. While she was preparing her bags for the summer we talked to her to take a recipe for a perfect party day and night…

What’s the concept of this record “A Bugged Out Mix By Miss Kittin” as it is divided into 2 different CDs ‘perfect day and perfect night’?

I didn´t plan it like that really. I just had the request to do a club mix and the other one free style. It was just pretty obvious the club mix had to be a reflect of a typical Kittin night at the club, which is not easy at home in front of your wall. The other one was clearly made on day time at home. That´s probably why the second one is more “natural”, because true to reality! The title “perfect” comes from the intro of Princess Superstar saying “watch me working, I´m perfect”! And it ends like this too.


What does a perfect day or night mean to you?

“Perfect” in the sense “typical” Kittin musical taste. It´s always so hard to define what kind of music I play, as I love the challenge to mix genres or tunes that you will never think will fit together. But strangely, all my mix CDs I previously did were “untypical” projects… This one is very “normal” to me, no singing, no live set, just me playing records. A double Kittin pack. It was important to put out something that is the reflect of what I do here and now, like an archive. The club Kittin and the home Kittin.

How kind of similarities and differences do you find between this compilation and your live DJ sets?

The night CD tries to be as close as a normal DJ set as possible. But you won´t find the vocal improvisation I could do live in clubs. Because these vocalizes are spontaneous and I don´t think they would make sense here. You have to be in the club to hear it, when I feel like it, according to the vibe of the room, the audience, my mood of the moment. This was recorded at home in my living room.

What does make you excited most when you think of this summer?

I am looking forward playing in all big events like Sonar, Benicassim, Ibiza, Dour, Melt and so. It´s always the best part of the year isn´t it?
